26th April 2026 will see me run my third London Marathon, where I hope to better my efforts from 2011 (4:37) and 2019 (4:11).
Whilst running a marathon, or any sort of daft distance, wearing the green and white 🟢 ⚪️ of St Neots Riverside Runners is not at all unusual for me, London is special because it represents more than just getting a PB (or even just getting round).
Last year I was lucky enough to be accepted as a Board Trustee for a fantastic small charity called Red2Green. Based in Cambridgeshire, they work with young people who have learning difficulties and autism, helping to give them the skills to achieve not just independence, but meet their aspirations in terms of education and career too. Those who know me will know why this charity is close to my heart.
The energy and passion of everyone I have met there is world class, however like all small charities, every penny matters, so if you are able to donate to support them AND give me some extra incentive to run (not that I need it), please do and we are extremely grateful. My employer (Barclays Bank) will match the first £1000 raised.
Spring marathon training has been made tough this year by the constant rain, however the cold weather training will be all worth it when I’m suffering from heat stroke halfway round on the day 😜
Thank you!
Picture is of me and the gang at mile 22 on a recent trail marathon where I look far too fresh. I look forward to seeing them (plus Rachel, minus the dog) at miles 19 & 20 in Canary Wharf where if I’m doing it right, I won’t be that smiley!
